about

This album is a celebration of the clarinet trios of history and features two of Australia's greatest living musicians and two of my personal heroes: Stephen Grant and Lynn Wallis.
Australia has a long tradition of New Orleans jazz and swing, whose exponents have made valuable and unique interpretations of this music that stands alongside the work of their American colleagues. With this album I humbly share my contribution to the body of work by luminaries Allan Browne, Tom Baker, Bob Barnard, Frank Traynor, John Scurry, Margie Lou Dyer, Greame Bell, Karl Hird, Geoff Bull, The Hoodangers, Paul Ferness and so so many more.

Special thanks to Australian clarinet heroes Jo Stephenson, Chris Tanner and Karl Hird for keeping the clarinet alive in this music (among many others) and of course to Stephen Grant and Lynn Wallis for their endless skill and expertise.

Recorded on August 3rd by Myles Mumford at Rollingstock studios.
Thanks to Myles for his help in dragging the three of us into the studio at last, it took a lot of encouragement.

This album was recorded on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation and I pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging.
